Why I like the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art.
Olivia Rees (11) tells us why she enjoys visiting us.......
I enjoy going to the Heritage Centre, it is an interesting and fascinating place with lots to do and see. I really like the On your Bike exhibition that is on at the moment.
There are quite a few galleries that have touch screens to find out more about what you are looking at. There are real horses in the Rothschild Yard that used to race, some of them in big races.
I also enjoy the workshops and special events. I have been to one that taught me to draw a horse properly which was helpful and good because you could meet new people. I also went to meet some Owls they had visit Palace House and learn about the different breeds. Find out about the special events that take place HERE.
The simulator is a great thing because you can choose 5 different speeds, my brothers and I like to go fast. There are race silks that you can wear so that you can feel like a real jockey. With the photo of the Newmarket July course in front of you and horses at your side, you can imagine you are actually racing. What is really great is that it is for all ages, but we are still waiting for my Mum to go on it!
I like The Pantry Bakery as they do really nice hot chocolate and the Tack Room Restaurant as it does lovely food such as gorgeous cake. I like the layout of the café because it is unique.
The Gift Shop has really nice things for all ages and great gifts.
The museum has kind people that work there and many of them know lots of information about the history of Racing.
