David Hunter, RoR Trustee said;

We are thrilled to have welcomed the much loved Purple Moon to the RoR team at Palace House. Not only was he a highly successful racehorse but his record in the RoR Show ring has been outstanding. He is now a 14 year old and is looking for a quieter career which we will work towards during his stay with us. He will be available for visitor ‘meet and greet’ duties as well as some of the RoR demonstrations that form part of the behind the scenes daily tours at 11.30 and 2.30 daily.”

Sara Cumani, owner of Purple Moon said;

Purple Moon first came into our lives in June 2007 after making the top price of purple-moon-and-francesca440,000 Guineas at the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale the previous year. He was purchased by Craig Bennett who had hopes of him making a Champion Hurdler, however this was not meant to be, and he asked us to train him back on the flat. He was a delight to train and gave us all tremendous thrills, first winning a Listed race at Goodwood and then going on to win the Ebor at York earning himself a trip to Australia for the Melbourne Cup (Group 1) where he finished a gallant 2nd. His globetrotting continued with a second in the Hong Kong Vase (Group 1) and a third in the Dubai Sheema Classic (Group 1) amongst others. Since retiring he has excelled in his RoR Showing classes is the perfect all round horse, he is beautiful, kind, loves people and a joy to have around.”
