A new restaurant to open in the heart of Newmarket in the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art
The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art’s restaurant/café
has been named The Tack Room: Food by The Pantry and is due to be open to the public from the 5th September. Situated just off the public atrium in a modern adaptation of the original building will be a restaurant/cafe named The Tack Room: Food by the Pantry. It will be accessible to all the public, not just Heritage Centre ticket holders, and will be accessed via large gates on Palace Street directly into the King’s Yard or from the atrium that runs from Rous Road car park through to Palace Street.
Seating will accommodate up to 72 people inside, with an additional 22 on an umbrella covered terrace. During the summer months further tables will be available in the beautiful King’s Yard that once stabled Charles II’s horses. The Tack Room promises to be a wonderful addition to what is already on offer in Newmarket.
The Tack Room will serve traditional British food with a twist using the very best that East Anglia and in particular Suffolk has to offer. The restaurant brings it ethos of all day dining, offering breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea in a
relaxed and friendly environment with fantastic quality homemade food at great value for money. Diners will be able to enjoy delicious homemade scones, sandwiches and hearty main courses. By night the location will transform into an elegant restaurant, wine and cocktail bar, with an emphasis on fresh fish and seafood.

The Tack Room gets its name from the original use of the building when Bruce Hobbs occupied it in the 1980’s. With views into the Rothschild Yard – stabling up to eight former racehorses in the flagship home to RoR, it will be a unique and enchanting setting for a restaurant/café.
In addition to the restaurant/cafe The Tack Room will have an onsite bakery to provide delicious home baked cakes, breads and take away food which will also be available to purchase daily.
Both the Bakery and the Deli will cater for food intolerances such as gluten, dairy and for vegetarian and vegan customers.
