One of the major success stories at the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art has been the community engagement project that was set up before we opened. During the last 2 years over 200 local people have helped us move, and open the new National Heritage Centre – this is a stark contrast to the number of volunteers that we previously had at the old National Horseracing Museum! We now have over 100 regular volunteers that have donated over 7000 hours of their time, and they really are the backbone of our operation. Roles vary from ‘meeting and greeting’, collection care, equestrian duties, gallery guides, events and marketing – all across our five acre site. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our wonderful volunteers.
