George Stubbs was the finest ever British Equestrian Artist and the drawings he produced for his book The Anatomy of the Horse, were based on dissection, transformed equine art.

The record price for a Stubbs painting at auction of Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath with a Trainer, a stable lad and a jockey sold in London in 2011 for £22.4 million. The Royal Collection hold 16 paintings by Stubbs.
