Volunteering in Education

"I love coming to the museum and look forward to it immensely. I never know what we will discover or learn, or the interesting people I will meet. I feel you look after us all with great care and respect."

We greatly value the support of our volunteers who make a real difference through a variety of roles:

  • Meeting and greeting visitors and helping out at events
  • Caring for horses
  • Researching and documenting collections
  • Maintaining the gardens.

At Palace House, Newmarket our volunteering programme will continue to expand to include new roles such as gardening; meeting and greeting visitors; and helping people to engage with the new displays.

We aim to offer a range of volunteering opportunities and to match people to tasks that take into account their skills and interests. Volunteer roles can be regular, short-term or occasional depending on how much time you have to spare.
