Mr Hwfa Williams 'Sandown Park', 1891, Artist, 'Spy'.
After a band of gentleman wanted to create a quality racecourse near London, Hwfa Williams as a fellow sportsman, was appointed as the first Manager, to create, develop and manage Sandown Park, which he more than ably did. Hwfa was known to be a nattily attired gentleman and was much respected by all in Racing Circles, including the Jockey Club itself. He is best known as the Father of big stakes betting.
