Summer of Science

When: 20th July - 1st September 10AM to 5PM

Palace House has announced that they will be hosting a season of science themed family activities in association with Shadwell Stud. The Palace House Summer of Science will run throughout the six-week holidays and will centre around the current exhibition; George Stubbs (1724 – 1806) Anatomist.

The Summer of Science will see two new temporary spaces in the Trainer’s House of Palace House; Stubbs’ Studio-Lab and the Summer of Science Activity Room. Families will have the chance to learn more about the anatomist George Stubbs in the Studio-Lab, put on a lab-coat, measure bones and sketch skulls. Find out how George Stubbs drew animals in such great detail before the invention of the x-ray and have a go at using some of his techniques!

The Summer of Science Activity Room will feature a carousel of Science Stations where young minds can discover more about how our bodies work as well as how horse’s bodies work! A life sized model of a horse will take centre stage in the Summer of Science Activity Room which will uncover the surprising scale of the anatomy of the horse!
